Yep, so our little friend the choker necklace has creeped itself back into our high street shops and onto the necks of celebrities and catwalks. We knew there was only a matter of time til it came back into our high streets as since the main trend in jewellery at the moment and no saturday night outfit is complete without a 'statement necklace' or some sort of neck candy.
We thought it was going to stay in the era of the late 80's/early 90's were we all owned or seen someone with the plastic tattoo esque one ( which was from our era and we bought outta the pound shop) which we thought we looked so in style, well when we were like 10 yrs old, or some goth walking down the road with a some crucifix hanging of velvet ribbon and we thought eeeeww, we would never wear that ?? Well sorry to say some of us have to take that back now and I am one of them cause I am guilty as charged I have worn one of these so called goth inspired chokers! I had seen this jewellery trend coming out the past while, but the likes of River Island, Asos and Topshop are definatley the culprits when it comes to being spolit for choice!
We all thought that by wearing a black crucifix choker we would look like a goth or a freak but nah-ah not at all. And if this goth look doesnt suit you can be sure to find something else that compliments your style. It doesn't have to be all grunge and black or tight around your neck. This choker trend can range from torc necklaces which are still around from SS12 but are more upscale with gems and clusters of stones to jazz them up ( as seen on ASOS), to more ethnic style choker necklaces which drape on the shoulders or even go into a bodychain or even collar necklaces which are still around.
And at last but not least the other style of choker that I am absolutley in love with and want right now has to be known other than the 'Celine ID Necklace' as sported by Rihanna and Kimmy K in both gunmetal and gold. The minute I saw this it gave me flashbacks of the chunky ID bracelets that we seen in the window of Argos or Thomas Gear jewellers but there is something about this chunky choker that is ghetto faboulous and which can pull any outfit together.
So whether you wanna be chic and classy like Kim K or ghetto fab like Ri-Ri, definatley give this trend a bash cause I already have :)
